What's the real skinney on the differences between the L & B models? I have 10 acres, and am looking for about a 25 hp tractor to help keep up with it all. Need to move dirt, brush hog, lift stuff, etc. Kubota has many model #'s floating around out there, and I haven't been able to correlate the difference between them all. There ain't a lot of used tractors available in my neck of the woods, so hands on shopping of pre-owned machines is limited. Thanks

The main difference between the L series and B series is the size and weight of the machine. Take for example the B2910 and L3130 are about the same in HP (around 30 each), but the L3130 weighs almost twice as much. The L3130 gets a larger loader and can handle larger implements. If you go to carver equipment's website, he has a lot of good info and explains a lot of questions. I found that website very helpful. The link is below ....

Thanks for your reply. I thought at first it might be a 2WD vs 4WD thing, but that's not the case. I'll check out the Carver site. While I have your attention, what's GST stand for? Does it have to do with a hydrostatic clutch? Thanks ....

I'm not that familiar with that, but I believe it is a shuttle shift or glide shift or something like that. I think it is a cross between a gear drive and a hydrostat. I'm sure Art, Murf, Chief or one of the other guys will explain it better than me. ....

The L-series is heavier then the B-series, larger in size as well as options are different. The GST is a power shift type tractor transmission that works like the larger farm tractors. It does have a power shuttle that is hydraulic and you don't need the clutch to operate for forward and reverse. This type transmission was first introduced to the compact tractor industry another first by Kubota back in the 80's and they are still the only company to offer something like it. The B-series is more manuverable and will go into places the L won't. ....

Once again gentlemen, thanks for your insight into my questions. As I stated earlier, there are not many used machines available around here for a tire kicker to go out and test drive. Have some work to do tomorrow, and will probably go down to the local rental place and now I have some insight as to what to expect from the machine they hand me the keys to. Thanks. ....
